Vicky Steane’s Map collage work is inspired by the old paper A to Z maps that we all used to get around London with.
Her main piece is known as ‘The London Travel Card Map’ and has recently been featured in Time Out Magazine. The London Travel Card Map is a 3 x 4 ft ‘to-scale’ map of London, made entirely out of used discontinued paper travel cards. It is a living tribute to a more analogue era of travel in London.
Using outdated paper A to Z maps as inspiration, Vicky studied the patterns we create as humans and the correlation between the growth of a us as a species and the growth patterns within nature.
